Crossing, 2011

Crossing is a "moving painting", a "modern still life", a "timeless motion". It's strongly ingluenced by 16-17th century Dutch Golden Age paintings that are full of symbolic reminders. The video presents five characters, five personalities as well as five different roles of one personality, represented through movements and gestures. Crossing concerns with the hopelessness of a technologized and dis-cultured society.

Nickolay Onischenko Alina, 2012

In Alina project there is a perceptual game - abstract not inherent in the physical reality objects embedding in the familiar looking elements of reality - the tops of trees, clouds, roof edge. Inspired by Arvo Part symphony, Alina visually embodies state of listening as a state of absorption and, as a consequence of detachment from the outside world. Despite the threatening geometric structures impending, running wild in the air, filling the real space of the landscape, not familiar to the perceptual memory of the viewer, these objects are more teal than the pseudo-view of clouds and trees.

Boryana Rossa, Oleg Mavromatti. After the Fall, 2013

This video installation examines "gender performance" in film after the Cold War through re-enactments of scenes from selected cinematic works. By reading these films through the lens of contemporary feminist and gender theory, Boryana Rossa seeks to understand what are some of the transformations of gender concepts in post-socialist countries. In the installation, two screens display both the original scene and the re-enactment.

The Melancholy of Bakunin, 2013

The Melancholy of Bakunin is the media art work, formally close to the mockumentary, but differs from it in that it's not being "lies in the last instance", and also is not true. This attempt to create works that do not fall into one genre, but fall into many. Of course, it's primarily concerned with contemporary cinema, which itself now falls into play between the meanings and genres, creating space for the emergence of new meanings and readings.

Your Self is a Reflection of Myself

In this film one person is shown through the two different ages of her life. The first, the younger individual, is in her twenties and the other in her sixties. In the dialogue between them they manage to exchange their experiences whilst getting an opportunity to communicate with each other. The two of them are in a continual dialogue which sounds like a monologue or a confession at certain moments.

Tatyana Sushenkova Agreed, 2013

About love. About the fact that the cople has no distinction between male and female by sex only, and there are two people with the same goals or not, each with its habitual ways to achieve these goals. For a happy stay and address current issues in the pair is not important who participate in it. Only important - willingness to work and ability to invest freely without operating partner to achieve common goals.

FATHERLAND/MOTHER-LAND, 2002

Motherland/Fatherland - is not only sounding words or geographic location. A mandatory set of concepts allows a person to feel their involvement in the community. Motherland may have frightening face. She turns her punishing hypostasis to an external enemy and to her own children. The work reflected this ambivalence of male and female incarnation of the national community. Artists themselves appear before the audience as the embodiment of a complex game of the concept Fatherland/Motherland

Decay time

The Soviet Union collapsed. People who built the Soviet project , were his heroes, in the new reality became examples of social exclusion, fighting for their survival. Adapting to the new socio-political system becomes irresistible evolutionary step for many homo soveticus.

After 100 years in Portugal

Modern reconstruction of José Malhoa's paintings subjects. How would look these scenes today, after 100 years?
